Subtitle: I want to download this Siri Shortcut but I can’t add it because it says it’s “Untrusted” and I don’t know how to make it run. Help!

Siri Shortcuts are Apple’s way automate things you do on your iPhone or iPad. They’re a powerful way to accomplish a variety of tasks with less friction. If you’d like to run a shortcut someone else made there are a couple of steps that you’ll need to do first. These steps aren’t necessarily obvious, but only take a few steps to complete.

Apple calls any shortcut you haven’t created an “Untrusted Shortcut”. Before you can run an untrusted shortcut you need to first run a shortcut on your own then flip a switch to allow for untrusted shortcuts. Here’s the list for what to do:

Allowing Untrusted Shortcuts

  1. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad and tap the bottom tab for “Gallery.”
  2. Select a shortcut that you’d like to add. Tap on the shortcut to reveal it’s actions and then tap “Add Shortcut.” Go through any additional setup if necessary. I suggest adding the “Browse Top News” shortcut. It’s simple and won’t require any setup.
  3. Once the shortcut is added, tap back to the “My Shortcuts” tab. Tap and run the shortcut you added. Be sure the shortcut completely finishes running without any errors.
